Year after year they have made some significant efforts in improving this campground, so I have to give the brother/sister team much credit. The difficulties we experienced were: 1) navigating the roads to the site, and 2) actually fitting into the site. Since we were camping late in the season, all the fallen oak leaves covered the camp "roads". The camp is on a mountain and the "roads" are quite steep and narrow; trying to meander/find our way around was very difficult. It would have been so helpful (and safer) if they blew the leaves off the main camp roads. Secondly, if you have a decent sized rig, be careful into which site you are assigned. Not only are the roads unwieldy, some site entrances are extremely narrow between trees or situated in a location that made it a real chore getting the trailer in and out! Yikes: it's not for the inexperienced driver! The campground went all out for Halloween though, and we truly had a lot of fun: adults and children alike!
Two months ago we reserved two sites for two trailers and a tent (6 adults, 4 kids). Some friends decided to join us so two additional sites were reserved for two more trailers; so we’re talking nearly $400 in reservations. We set up camp but unfortunately, the weather was not the best and in no time at all, our particular campsites were a mud pit! We were put in a low-lying bowl-like area where all the water migrated and didn’t drain well. Meanwhile, less than 50 yards away was a long strip of 20 or so empty campsites along a grassy knoll. We had never camped here before, so we were not familiar with the layout so we were all really frustrated that the managers didn’t suggest a better situated area for our group, especially since much of the campground was not occupied. So much for good customer service. All the trailers and tents were set-up so we couldn’t just pick up and move. We spent the weekend in muck-boots and what a mess to clean when we got home!
We chose this campground because it was close and offered a lot of amenities for kids. Best part? The very large playground - the kids had a BLAST. The mini golf course was cheesy to us adults but the kids thought it was great. The kids never got to use the beautiful pool because a large group of adults took over the whole pool area for water football. Bathrooms were yucky but luckily we had a camper! Walking trails were overgrown and not maintained.
Beautiful area, nice site, very quiet. Rabbits EVERYWHERE - there must be a colony! Not much to do - there's no walking trails except the very small campground loop.
